About Marie Stopes Zambia
Marie Stopes Zambia is a leading provider of comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services in Zambia. Operating at a national scale, Marie Stopes Zambia plays a vital role in reaching underserved and marginalised populations, particularly adolescents and rural poor populations.
Brief
Conduct an end of programme evaluation of Marie Stopes Zambia's 4 year SIDA-funded project which sought to increase women and young people’s access to quality SRH and safe abortion services, as well as to improve the enabling environment in Zambia through a range of advocacy interventions.
What We Did
We utilised a mixed-methods approach using qualitative data collection with adolescent and women users and non-users of Marie Stopes services, as well as with health providers, key government and Ministry of Health personnel, alongside key informants from Marie Stopes. We recruited a youth and disability advisory committee to advise on the research methodology, research tools and guides, and on the final report and recommendations. Insights and recommendations from the study are now being used in both SIDA and Marie Stopes' 5 year strategies.
